Drug & Alcohol Testing:

Laboratory Analysis

Laboratory Analysis
In-house Laboratory Analysis

Whether the sample was tested using a testing kit, or was sent straight for laboratory analysis at our in-house laboratory, you can obtain a primary test result is for a quick and cost effective way to identify if a sample requires further analysis. The result of a primary test result is returned as either ‘negative’ or ‘non-negative’

If a sample is returned as non-negative this indicates something in the sample has reacted or cross-reacted with the test. At this point we do not know what is present or if something is present at what level and, for this reason it is referred to as non-negative. No disciplinary action should be taken until the confirmation analysis result is received from the laboratory.

A non-negative test result can be sent to our laboratory to be analysed by our professionals for confirmation analysis. Confirmation analysis takes place using industry Gold Standard techniques for further in-depth analysis and can provide you with a legally defensible result.

SYNLAB Laboratory Services uses confirmation processes based on liquid chromatography with mass spectrometric detection (LC-MS).

Our toxicology laboratory is a Testing Laboratory (No.2144) providing ISO/IEC 17025:2017 UKAS accredited workplace drug and alcohol tests.
