Forensic Testing

SYNLAB Laboratory Services’ ISO 17025 UKAS Accredited Testing Laboratory No. 2144, is able to analyse blood samples in relation to drug driving offences. Forensic testing

We are able to provide a fast, reliable service to individuals and solicitors who are looking to have defence samples analysed. We can provide results for B sample analysis in as little as 28 days.

We are accredited to test for a number of the most commonly abused drugs such as cocaine, cannabis and opiates. The full list of drugs we test for can be found in our technical specification manual. The laboratory cannot accept samples that also require alcohol analysis.

If required, we are able to provide an expert report or Streamlined Forensic Report MG22(c) which can be submitted to the court. Attendance of an expert witness at court is also available upon request.

At SYNLAB Laboratory Services, we understand the need for accuracy, so samples are subject to our strict chain of custody procedures. Therefore, samples received in the laboratory are only opened by authorised NPPV3 vetted staff in the secure forensic area.

Accreditation

Our toxicology laboratory is one of only a handful of UK providers accredited to analyse samples in line with section 5a of the Road Traffic Act (1988) for drug driving. In addition, we are accredited to the Forensic Science Regulator’s Codes of Practice and Conduct.
