18th December 2018 – ABERGAVENNY, UK – SYNLAB Laboratory Services, a specialist workplace drug and alcohol testing laboratory, has been awarded accreditation to the Forensic Science Regulator’s Codes of Practice and Conduct.
Part of Europe’s leading medical diagnostics provider SYNLAB Group, SYNLAB Laboratory Services, based in Abergavenny, provides drug and alcohol testing and UK wide collection services to customers focused on safeguarding employees and minimising the risks associated with drug and alcohol misuse.
A natural extension to its current services, accreditation to the ‘Codes’ makes the toxicology laboratory one of only a handful of UK providers accredited to analyse samples in line with section 5a of the Road Traffic Act for drug driving – a current focus for police in England and Wales following an average of 37 drivers a day being caught under the influence of banned substances.*
The Forensic Science accreditation is the result of a year-long project in the laboratory where data and security processes were independently checked by expert auditors from UKAS, the United Kingdom Accreditation Service.
Samantha Osmond, Head of Toxicology at SYNLAB Laboratory Services commented “We are delighted to receive this accreditation from UKAS. It demonstrates our commitment to continuous improvement, integrity of results and the high standard of quality the laboratory team prides itself on working to.”
Having maintained its UKAS ISO 17025 and RISQS accreditations in 2018 and the recent award of ISO 15189 to its pathology laboratory, SYNLAB Laboratory Services is now in the unique position of holding all four accreditations in one location.
