06 November 2019 – Abergavenny, U.K. – SYNLAB Laboratory Services, a specialist workplace drug and alcohol testing laboratory, today announced that it has maintained its certification as an approved supplier under the Railway Industry Supplier Qualification Scheme (RISQS).
Recertification means that SYNLAB Laboratory Services can continue to provide drug and alcohol testing as an approved supplier to the rail industry, while providing assurance that the company is operationally capable and compliant, therefore reducing risk.
RISQS is an industry owned qualification process, which is accessed by thousands of buyers in the rail industry, including Network Rail.
SYNLAB Laboratory Services was subject to an audit by RISQS assessors earlier this year. During the audit, the company was complimented on its quality management system and the assessors were impressed with the quality culture that exists across the business. By adequately demonstrating its compliance with network rail guidelines, SYNLAB Laboratory Services received its certification for another consecutive year*.

RISQS certification is one of an impressive accreditation portfolio SYNLAB Laboratory Services holds. The laboratory is an ISO 15189 UKAS accredited medical laboratory No. 9301, and an ISO 17025 UKAS accredited testing laboratory No. 2144. The laboratory’s ISO 17025 schedule also includes accreditation to the Forensic Science Regulators Codes of Practice and Conduct permitting the analyses of samples in line with section 5a of the Road Traffic Act for drug driving.
