Bibby Distribution Selects SYNLAB Laboratory Services as Preferred Drug and Alcohol Testing Partner
21 October 2019 – ABERGAVENNY, U.K. – SYNLAB Laboratory Services, part of the SYNLAB Group, today announced that the company has been selected as the preferred partner for workplace drug and alcohol testing by Bibby Distribution (Bibby).
Bibby is a contract logistics company providing supply chain solutions, warehousing, distribution and many other added value services that cover the entire supply line.
With over 1700 employees, 600 of these on the road every day, Bibby needed a companywide, robust substance misuse policy. Sean Cullen, Lead SHEQ Manager at Bibby commented “As a responsible employer the safety and wellbeing of our people is paramount, we also have a duty of care to clients and visitors to our site as well as members of the public.”
The two year drug and alcohol testing agreement, which went live on the 1st May 2019, includes Policy writing, implementation, training and support, the provision of breathalysers and mobile kits and back to laboratory testing for non-negative results.

Two months into the partnership, SYNLAB Laboratory Services has trained 120 members of the team, enabling Bibby to carry out their own on site testing. A training video is also in progress, which will ensure that all members of staff are trained to the same high standard, and facilitate refresher training. Over coming months, Bibby also plans to roll out random testing.
